Colors and their Hidden Meanings

In my 11 AP class this week, we have been analyzing the book The Great Gatsby and the roaring twenties. Although the book has several interessant things that I could write about, I decided to focus on how surprised I was to see how colors have sub meanings in the story. For instance, the book used yellow and gold, which the hidden meaning was that yellow is a fake money, for example money of people from the West Egg and gold refers to authentic, traditional old money. Another good example to use is how Gatsby's car is yellow colored, due his desire to enter the East Egg, New York's highest society. And we also have a diversity of example that we could notice on the book about colors, as Daisy's white dress which symbolizes purity alongside with her white car, or Jordan's golden arms, or T.J. Eckleburg's glasses, or the blue color on the billboard.
All these examples made me wonder if it is just on the book that colors have hidden meaning, and after doing some research, I found out that we have plenty examples of colors' effects on our daily society. Surprisingly, I found out that there is a marketing plan behind the Mcdonald's logo colors. Besides the fact that yellow and red are considered the most attractive colors to drive people's attention, they are used on the logo because they stimulate people's appetite, and also yellow means trust, so people feel like the food is good and trustable to buy.
Isn't it amazing how colors can change the way that we think about a story, character, logo and people? For me, it was, and now I’ll always see the Mcdonald's logo thinking about the colors, or read The Great Gatsby with different eyes.

    I love how you included a picture to show the connection of colors to everyday emotions and brands. I also really like how you connected the discussion of colors from Gatsby to something in today's society

    The way you applied symbols (colors) from the book to our reality is very insightful. The picture you provided was very creative and also helps readers to make their own connections from colors in the book to symbols in society today.

If I had lived in 1692...

We live in a world where everything is open minded, most people have the freedom of speech and people express liberty to do whatever they would like to. However, it was not always like that.....What if I had lived in the 1692 ? Well, in my opinion, I would probably have some problems living at this time, and I wouldn't be half of the extroverted person that I am nowadays. Things I have Learned In AP English

1Hello!! Today, I am going to talk about the things I have learned throughout the year in my english class and also, how I believe I improved as a writer. 1.. " Through F.
